WAIPIO (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Iolani girls soccer team
defeated Punahou 3-1 to win their first HHSAA championship since 1999. The
Raiders Jill Shimabuku scored a pair of goals including the go-ahead score in
the 65th minute. The win subdues the agony of defeat for Iolani who
finally found success after losing the 2012 and 2011 titles to
Kamehameha-Kapalama and Punahou respectively.
In the division two championship game, Mid-Pacific won their
third straight D2 title, defeating Hawaii Prep 2-0. Julie Khil and Taylor Higa
scored each goal for the Owls.
