In what has become a constant this season, the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team played yet another five-set match. But this time, the Warriors saw their three-match home win streak come to an end to No. 3 Stanford Friday night (25-23, 22-25, 33-31, 20-25, 15-9.) in the first of two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matches at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Warriors (3-7, 2-5 MPSF) played their sixth five-set match this season and fell to 2-4 in those matches. Sinisa Zarkovic led four Warriors in double figures with 16 kills while Brook Sedore added 14 kills and five service aces. JP Marks had 13 kills and eight digs and Taylor Averill posted 12 kills and seven blocks.
The Cardinal (7-2, 4-2) was led by Steven Irvin, who had a match-high 27 kills on .548 hitting. Brian Cook added 20 kills.
The teams play again Saturday. First serve is 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
