MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A 60-year-old man is dead after falling about 50 feet while hiking on Maui Saturday.
The man was a part of a group of four hikers who were on the Waihou Spring Trail within the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve on Haleakala. The victim, a visitor from Colorado, slipped and fell during the hike.
Fire Department personnel from Makawao Station and Kahului Station were called out to the scene at 11:30 a.m. and had to hike the victim out.
Police personnel are continuing the investigation.
