WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

All traffic along Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki was shut down near Seaside Avenue for several hours early Friday morning because of a fire at The Cheesecake Factory restaurant, according to police.

The fire reportedly broke out at just after 3:20 a.m. in the kitchen of the restaurant, which is located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Firefighters say that they believe the fire eventually spread to a ventilation system and began coming out of air ducts.

The restaurant's dining area was also reportedly damaged by smoke from the fire.

Crews from the Honolulu Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire by approximately 4:50 a.m., and roads in the area were reopened at around 7:00 a.m.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

We will have more information on this developing story as soon as it becomes available.
