Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest day in advertising. For many companies it's a sort of coming out party to debut their hottest products of the season.
Several commercials we'll be seeing this Sunday have already been released online and are generating buzz before the coin has even been tossed.
Some spots are sure to be from the major marketers we see every year like Coca-Cola and Toyota.
Marketing experts, though, say we'll also see some from smaller companies this weekend that will spend their whole advertising budgets on Super Bowl ads. This year's advertisements are going anywhere from $3.7 million to $4 million for a 30-second spot.
University of Nevada, Las Vegas marketing professor Jack Schibrowsky says it's all about top of mind awareness, which means companies will spend whatever it takes to get you to think of them when the need arises for a particular item.
Though many Super Bowl commercials are entertaining or funny, they don't necessarily have anything to do with the product.
"The trick, of course, is to make sure we know what the company is for," said Schibrowsky.
He says this year will be all about celebrities, good looking women, automobile ads and a lot of humor.
