HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaiian Humane Society says an owl rescued last week in the Maikiki area has been released back into the wild.
The barn owl was found on Thursday stuck in a tree with string caught in its wing.
A concerned citizen noticed the owl and called the Hawaiian Humane Society.
The owl was dehydrated and hungry but not injured.
After a weekend of rehabilitation at the Aloha Animal Hospital, the owl was taken back to Makiki for release.
As it was released, the bird looked around stretched its wings and took flight. It slowly made its way up, over the trees and out of sight.
