HONOLULU – (Hawaii Athletics) The University of Hawai'i and Brigham Young University announced the cancellation of its football series. The teams were scheduled to meet Dec. 7, 2013 at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium and in 2014 in Provo, Utah.
The announcement comes after the Mountain West Conference announced that a football championship will be played between the winners of its two divisions on the same date as the UH-BYU scheduled game. The announcement necessitated the cancellation of the 2013 game. The schools also cancelled the 2014 game scheduled for LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.
The schools agreed to look at scheduling a future series.
As longtime members of the Western Athletic Conference, the schools renewed its rivalry in 2011 and again in 2012. BYU won both games – 41-20 in Honolulu in 2011 and 47-0 in Provo in 2012.
