The Warriors (3-6, 2-4 MPSF) swept the two-match series against the Waves (3-3, 3-3), marking their fourth consecutive victory over Pepperdine in Honolulu dating back to 2011. On Friday, the Warriors rallied to win in five, scoring the final four points of Set 5 for the upset.

The Warriors gained a little separation at 12-8 early in Set 1. The Waves got within one on several occasion, including at 20-19 but UH triple-blocked Torres and Ramos served up an ace that just trickled over the net for a 22-19 lead. UH went on to close out the set, 25-21 as the Warriors tallied five blocks and three service aces.

The teams traded points for the first half of Set 2. Pepperdine led 17-14 before the Warriors scored four straight – including a block solo and kill by Marks on consecutive plays. UH won a long rally, ending with a kill by Sedore for a 21-19 lead. Pepperdine rallied to tie it at 21 before a kill and block by Zarkovic gave UH a 23-21 lead. After a Josh Taylor kill, Averill put down a kill and Marks ended giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Hawai'i jumped out to a great start in Set 3, with three straight points. With Sedore at the service line, the Warriors extended their lead to 11-3 and cruised to a 25-16 victory on .455 hitting.

The Warriors will next host a two-match MPSF series against Stanford, Feb. 1 & 2 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
