State highways could be renamed after Senator Inouye

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two Hawaii highways could soon be renamed after the late Senator Daniel Inouye.

Lawmakers on Maui have drafted a bill to honor Inouye by renaming Mokulele Highway "Daniel K. Inouye Veteran's Highway."

On the Big Island, State Senator Malama Solomon also introduced legislation to rename Saddle Road "The Daniel K. Inouye Legacy Highway."

Officials say the tribute would be fitting because Inouye helped secure funding to improve both roads.
