Creator of the award-winning Corona SDK sponsors GGJ and assists at multiple locations worldwide
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2013
Corona Labs, the leading mobile development platform provider, is pleased to announce its role as a major sponsor of the Global Game Jam (GGJ), and as a sponsor and co-organizer of the GGJ San Francisco location. In addition, Corona Ambassadors are organizing, or helping to facilitate existing events, in a number of locations internationally, including Belfast (Northern Ireland), Taipei (Taiwan), Manila (Philippines), Lyons (France), Bristol (United Kingdom), and domestically in Texas, Maryland, Colorado and Indiana. All events are taking place January 25-27, 2013.
The fifth annual event will bring together over 14,000 designers and developers from around the globe for a 48-hour game jam. Held in 60 countries with more than 300 locations worldwide, GGJ fosters innovation and experimentation in the game development space. San Francisco’s event alone will include hundreds of designers and developers from varying backgrounds, skill sets, levels and disciplines for a weekend of collaboration and creativity. The event concludes on Sunday evening with a closing ceremony where teams present their work to peers and receive recognitions in a number of categories.
“We’re eager to bring creative people together around the world, for our biggest game jam to date,” says Susan Gold, President and Co-founder of GGJ. “Corona Labs has helped us open the event to more people than ever before, as well as attract more active participants from the growing mobile development and gaming space.”
Corona Labs is the maker of Corona SDK, a popular platform that allows mobile developers, from indies to major studios, to build cross-platform apps with blazing speed. The unmatched efficiency achieved with Corona allows developers to focus on creating high quality content without the concern of cross-platform fragmentation. Among the over 25,000 Corona-built apps published to major markets, notable titles include Bubble Ball, The Lost City, Little Generals, Go Ninja, Bubble Ball, Blast Monkeys and Word Smack.
“The philosophy of Global Game Jam embodies the spirit of Corona SDK. We recognize that creative individuals want to build great games quickly, without having to worry about low level platform details,” says David Rangel, COO of Corona Labs. “We’re looking forward to all the spectacular games that will be developed by the GGJ community this weekend.”
Corona Labs has created a special promotion for all global participants of the GGJ. In addition, Corona Labs is sponsoring special awards at select locations worldwide.
