Coast Guard searching for possible diver in distress off Diamond Head

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Coast Guard is searching for a possible diver in distress Thursday after discovering a dive flag and cooler containing fish floating southeast of Diamond Head.

The dive gear was discovered more than a mile offshore at around 8:40 a.m. Rescue crews believe it originated along the reef line between Diamond Head and Hawaii Kai.

No official missing person report has been filed, but the Coast Guard is actively searching with an Air Station Barbers Point based H-65 Dolphin Helicopter and a Honolulu based Response Boat.

Anyone with information is asked to the Coast Guard at (808) 842-2601.
