Waianae High School stabbing suspect pleads not guilty

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Waianae High School student suspected of stabbing another student was arraigned in Circuit Court Thursday morning. 

18-year-old Ikaika Andrade was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. last week Friday.

The stabbing, on one of the school's outdoor basketball courts, sent the campus into lockdown while police investigated.

Police say the victim, 19, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

Trial for Andrade begins on March 11, he is charged with second-degree assault.

Andrade entered a not guilty plea from the Oahu Community Correctional Center through a closed - circuit video feed. He has been unable to post $25,000 bail.
