BATON ROUGE – Three seniors off of LSU's 2012 football team will take part in the Raycom All Star Classic on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Montgomery, Ala., as kicker Drew Alleman, defensive end Chancey Aghayere and defensive tackle Josh Downs have all accepted invitations to the game.
The game will be played at the Cramton Bowl in downtown Montgomery and will kickoff at 2 p.m. CT. CBS Sports Network will televise the contest. The players start practice on Monday, Jan. 14 and will practice each day in front of NFL scouts, general managers and coaches leading up to the contest on Saturday.
Alleman, Aghayere, and Downs will play for the Stars squad, which will be coached by Jim Bates. Bates served as a defensive coordinator in the NFL and in college football for many years.
The Stripes team will be coached by NFL legend Dan Reeves.
Alleman capped his career as one of the most accurate kickers in school history, connecting on 37-of-47 field goals for a .787 percentage. Alleman earned second team All-Southeastern Conference honors as a senior in 2012 after converting 21-of-29 field goals and 44-of-44 point-after touchdowns.
Alleman is the only player in LSU history to score 100 points in back-to-back seasons with 111 points as a junior in 2011 and 107 in 2012. He also ranks second in school history in consecutive PATs with 106, just three shy of tying the LSU mark of 109 held by David Browndyke.
Aghayere played in 43 games during his LSU career, starting six times at defensive end. He finished his career with the Tigers with 44 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Downs had his best season at LSU in 2012, playing in 13 games with 10 starts at defensive tackle. He registered 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks for the 10-3 Tigers. Downs ended his career with 48 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
