Te'o Stays Strong in Defeat

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI – His college career didn't end the way he, or any Notre Dame fan wanted it to, but in the end, Manti Teo is at peace with his time at Notre Dame.

"Obviously we wish the night could have ended a different way.  But, the season, the year, my career here, I've been truly blessed to be at Notre Dame.  I'll forever be proud to say that I'm a Notre Dame Fighting Irish" said Teo after Alabama won the BCS National Championship 42-14 over Notre Dame.

Teo was credited with 10 total tackles, but all too often they came in the Irish secondary, as Alabama ball carriers ran at will against an overmatched Notre Dame defense.

"Everybody knows about Alabama's offensive line.  They're very big, very athletic and very strong.  We battled, but they just did what Alabama does."

Now, Teo will prepare for the NFL, as he will be, in all likelihood, a top 10 draft pick in April.  He's already using the loss as motivation.

"What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.  The best thing about this experience is it creates fire, it creates fuel, for both the guys staying here and the guys leaving."
