Family displaced after housing complex fire in Nanakuli

A family of five was displaced late Sunday night after a unit at a housing complex in Nanakuli went up in flames, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

No injuries were reported during the fire, which reportedly began at an apartment near Helelua Place at just after 10:00 p.m. All five units in the complex were evacuated as crews worked to get the fire, which was limited to the building's exterior, under control.

Red Cross volunteers went to the scene of the fire to ensure the immediate emergency needs of anyone affected, such as shelter, food and clothing, were met.

A representative from Hawaii Gas also responded to the scene to help stop a gas leak.

Fire investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
