FIRE BURNS OVERNIGHT IN NANAKULI
Residents at a housing complex in Nanakuli were evacuated late last night after a gas leak was discovered and one of the units went up in flames. No injuries were reported, but a family of five was displaced from their home. A fire investigator is trying to figure out what caused the fire, while a Hawaii Gas employee arrived on the scene to help stop the gas leak.
SEARCH RESUMES FOR MAN SWEPT OUT TO SEA
At first light, rescue crews on the Big Island will continue searching for a man that was swept out to sea on Sunday. They started scanning the waters near Kehana Beach park at around 3:00 p.m. yesterday, but the search was called off due to darkness.
LANES CLOSED ON ALA MOANA BOULEVARD
Multiple lane closures along Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions resumed overnight, as crews work to resurface roadways, install streetlights and conduct sidewalk repairs. The closures will happen between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily through Friday morning, and a single lane between Queen Street and Kalakaua Avenue will also be closed during the day. FIREWORKS VICTIM STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION
A 21-year-old man injured by a fireworks blast on Saturday night is still in critical condition this morning. Ashley Baldovi was injured by the explosion when a firework blew up at his home on Waipahu Street.
