Suspect in New Year's shooting in Waianae arrested

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting early on New Year's Day that left a man hospitalized in serious condition, according to police.

Authorities say Benjamin Alailefaleula was arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot a 31-year-old in the Uluwehi Housing Complex on Ala Walua St. at around 5:30 a.m. January 1, 2013.

A nearby resident said the incident occurred during an all-night New Year's celebration that involved alcohol.
