Hawaii representatives vote in favor of fiscal cliff fix

WASHINGTON D.C. (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii representatives Colleen Hanabusa and Mazie Hirono both voted in favor of the Senate's fiscal cliff fix.

"I think what is really important for the people of Hawaii is that we kept the tax rates low for middle class families, for 98% of taxpayers and 97% of small businesses," said Hirono.

Both are still concerned about future decisions on the across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration and the debt ceiling.

"It would have been nice if we could have actually worked out the sequestration issue because especially for the military, and Hawaii is a beneficiary of that, and the question now becomes how are we going to handle that?" Hanabusa said.
