SALT LAKE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - 1600 customers were initially without power Wednesday morning after a car slammed into a utility pole.

HECO crews were able to restore power to all customers at around 8 a.m. with the exception of a traffic light at the intersection of Maluna Street and Salt Lake Boulevard where the accident took place.

Maluna Street from Salt Lake Boulevard to Likini Street was blocked while crews worked to fix the problem.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle who hit the utility pole fled from the scene on foot.END WNStoryRelatedBox
