Manoa (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Rainbow Warrior basketball team (5-4) fell 73-58 to Miami (8-1) Saturday night as the Canes won their day one debut in the Diamond Head Classic.
Freshman guard Brandon Jawato led the Bows with a career high 12 points, all of which came from the three point stripe (4-10 3pt fgs). Vander Joaquim chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds.
Hawaii trailed Miami by just one point at the break, 22-21, but the Canes opened the second half on a 14-3 run before pulling away for their 7th straight win, booking a date to play 4th ranked Arizona Sunday in one half of the DHC's semifinal.
UH will play East Tennessee State at 4pm H.S.T. on Sunday.
