No tsunami for Hawaii after large Vanuatu earthquake

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit Vanuatu on Friday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey the quake hit 80 miles north of Santo, Vanuatu.

The quake was at a depth of 129.2 miles.

The earthquake was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
