HONOLULU – Travel weary and apparently very hungry, the Fresno State
Bulldogs and SMU Mustangs arrived in Hawaii Wednesday night in advance of the
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. The two teams
shared a beachfront barbecue at the Moana Surf Rider.
Former Warriors head coach and current Mustangs head coach
June Jones is no stranger to the game.
He'll be making his sixth appearance, four with UH, and two with SMU.
"Most of these kids will probably never have the
opportunity to go to Pearl Harbor, see Hawaii, and already I can tell in their
eyes they are just blown away by the beauty of this beautiful place" said
Jones.
Bulldogs head coach Tim DeRuyter echoed his sentiments. "I want them to enjoy the experience
here. To me that's part of the bowl
game. The game's very very important,
but so is the experience, and I want them to enjoy it."
Both teams will mix work with play for the duration of their
stay. Each team has activities scheduled
every day after practice.
The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl will be played on Monday, December
24th. Kickoff is set for 3pm
HT.
