Stabbing at Mayor Wright Housing

KALIHI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 16-year-old male was taken to Queen's Medical Center in serious but stable condition after he suffered multiple stab wounds early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at Mayor Wright Housing in Kalihi just after 3 a.m.

The victim was stabbed three times, twice in the left shoulder, and once in the lower back.

The suspect, a 38-year-old male, is in custody and is being booked at the Kalihi City Police Station for second degree assault.

The victim and the suspect were fighting prior to the stabbing. It is unclear what they were fighting about.

Police have identified the weapon as a large kitchen knife.

One of the security guards at Mayor Wright Housing witnessed the event and detained the suspect until police arrived on scene. He sustained a small wound to the hand.
