RAINBOW WAHINE DOWN HPU IN EXHIBITION

HONOLULU – It took a while, but Laura Beeman's Rainbow Wahine basketball team shook off the rust against HPU in an exhibition game at the Stan Sheriff Center Tuesday night.

The Wahine had last played on December 1st.  Coupling the long inactivity with Beeman experimenting with various lineups early, and UH had its hands full with a Sea Warriors squad that came out firing.

HPU built a 21-10 lead in the first half before Beeman called timeout to get her team on the same page.

They responded with a 9-0 run, and eventually took the lead at 25-24.

The Sea Warriors closed out the first half strong, regaining the lead 30-29 at intermission.

In the second half, the Wahine asserted themselves, eventually pulling away for the 73-63 win.

Kamilah Martin paced the victors with 14 points.  Monica Deangelis added 12.  Kalei Adolpho, playing in her first game since coming over from the volleyball team, had 6 points and 5 rebounds in 14 minutes.
