HONOLULU (AP) - The University of Hawaii plans a news conference Thursday to introduce its new athletic director.

Ben Jay comes from Ohio State, where he had served as senior associate athletics director for finance and operations since 2006. He was chosen by Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple to replace Jim Donovan.

Donovan was reassigned earlier this year after a bungled Stevie Wonder concert and athletic department fundraiser. He recently agreed to be athletic director at Cal State Fullerton.

This would be Jay's first news conference since his appointment was announced on Dec. 7. His appointment is subject to approval by university system President M.R.C. Greenwood.
