Honolulu police arrested a 36-year-old man on Saturday after he allegedly injured a police officer who was directing traffic at the scene of a motor vehicle accident when he struck her with his car.
Larry Ballenti Sr. was arrested just before 11 a.m. on first degree assault against a law enforcement officer charges, then released pending an investigation.
The officer, a 41-year-old female, was directing traffic at the scene of an accident that happened at around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Auyong Homestead Road and Farrington Highway.
Authorities said on Saturday that two boys, ages 12 and 14, were taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition after they were ejected from the back of a pickup truck during the collision. Two other 17-year-old boys, who were in a second vehicle, were also taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
