More than 1,200 college students moved on to the next chapter of their lives on Saturday.
The graduates of the University of Hawaii at Manoa received their degrees and certificates during the mid-year commencement ceremony at the Stan Sheriff Center.
More than 800 students took home bachelor's degrees, while nearly received 400 graduate degree honors.
Aloha United Way president and former KGMB news anchor Kim Gennaula was the featured speaker featured speaker at the ceremony.
"I put myself in the shoes of these parents and thought, 'If my child was graduating today, what advice would i want to give them?" said Gennaula. "I told them, though, it's just like being a news anchor, except the 5,000 faces on the other side of the TV are actually right in front of you."
