HONOLULU(HawaiiNewsNow) - Most students in their Junior year of high school are starting to focus on choosing a college, completing studies, and, of course getting ready for their Senior year of High School. Punahou Juniors Noe (Noemaikealohaiku'ulei) Lum and Hallie Lam have managed to include another hefty task into the mix -- organizing and executing the fourth annual Homeward Bound 5k which was founded by former Punahou students Tama Fukuyama and Maya Grossmann who graduated High School last year and gone on to further their studies on the mainland and abroad.
Over the past 4 years Homeward Bound has garnered incredible support to the tune of over $40,000 and keeps growing every year. The USATF certified 5k course will start and end at Manoa Valley District Park on Sunday, December 16th, 2012. Race starts at 7:00am, registration starts at 6am or you can pre register online at www.ihs-hawaii.org <http://www.ihs-hawaii.org>. Registration is $15 until December 15th, and increases to $30 on race day. All proceeds from the race will be donated directly to IHS, The Institute for Human Services, Inc.
Event organizer Noe Lum said "It's a lot of responsibility, and it means so much to me that Tama and Maya chose Hallie and me, and trusted us to take over their "baby". I hope that we will be able to fill their big shoes. Before Hallie and I took over the Homeward Bound and toured IHS, I had no idea what IHS did. Now I know where the money goes and that it's going to a great cause. I have the chance to make a difference while getting to work with one of my best friends. It's awesome!"
