KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu firefighters have extinguished a brush fire that broke on near the H-1 Freeway in Kapolei late Thursday night.
Officials say they received an alarm call at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Large flames scorched about 10 acres of undeveloped land on the mauka side of the freeway just after the North-South Road exit.
Fire officials say no property was threatened and no one was hurt. Crews stayed on the scene through most of the night to ensure the flames did not spark back up.
Lanes on the H-1 going westbound were closed to make room for the fire vehicles. All lanes have since been reopened.
