Waikiki Hotel Evacuation, Wind Advisory, Senator Akaka's Farewell

DUMPSTER FIRE EVACUATES GUESTS FROM WAIKIKI HOTEL

A dumpster fire gave guests at the Westin Moana Surfrider a jolt. People were evacuated after fire broke out just before 3 this morning in a dumpster next to the hotel and scorched one side of the building. Ramsay Wharton will have live reports from the scene on Sunrise.

WIND ADVISORY

Strong winds will keep blowing today on the Big Island. A wind advisory is posted for noon today to 6 tonight. Meteorologist Jennifer Robbins is tracking the gusty conditions.

SENATOR AKAKA'S FAREWELL SPEECH

Senator Daniel Akaka will wrap up his 36 year career in Congress today with a farewell speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate. The 88 year old Democrat retires in January. We'll bring you the Senator's speech live on Sunrise when it happens.

RAIL COURT ORDER

A Federal Judge will hear arguments this morning on whether to issue a court order halting the City's rail project. The group that filed the lawsuit wants the project blocked until the City identifies all cultural properties, addresses the impact on Mother Waldron Park in Kakaako and studies the possibility of a Beretania Street tunnel as an alternate route.
