EAST HONOLULU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Friday was a dangerous day for swimmers at Sandy Beach on Oahu's east side. Three men were injured in three separate incidents, according to an Emergency Medical Services spokesperson.
Paramedics responded first to a man in his twenties who was injured while bodyboarding at about 12:20 p.m. Ocean Safety and EMS treated the patient at the beach and took him to a trauma center in serious condition.
Less than an hour later, just after 1:10 p.m., lifeguards helped a man in his sixties who broke his collar bone while in the water. He managed to walk onshore, but passed out on the sand, EMS says. The man was taken to a trauma center in serious condition.
Thirty means later, another man in his sixties suffered neck and back injuries while swimming at Sandy Beach. Paramedics transported him in serious condition to the hospital.
