Two taken to hospital after car flips in Kalihi, Coast Guard discovers debris field that may match missing plane, Vog plagues state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Here's what's happening on Sunrise this morning:

TWO TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER CAR FLILPS IN KALIHI

Two people were taken to the hospital after an SUV flipped in Kalihi Valley. The accident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday at a tight bend in the road along Kalihi Street near Kalaepaa Drive. An 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old female were involved in the crash. Both are in stable condition. It is not clear who was driving or what caused the accident.

COAST GUARD DISCOVERS DEBRIS FIELD THAT MAY MATCH MISSING PLANE

U.S. Coast Guard officials say a debris field that appears to be from an aircraft has been found in the area where a small plane disappeared from radar. Officials say the debris field has been located about two miles north of Maui. The discovery comes after a Cessna 172, a single-engine plane, dropped off of radar and lost radio contact after taking off from Kahului Airport for Molokai about 7 p.m. Saturday. The Coast Guard says has not confirmed the debris is from the missing plane.

VOG PLAGUES STATE OF HAWAII YET AGAIN

The thick vog is expected to plague the State through Wednesday before being pushed out by returning tradewinds on Thursday. Skies are expected to clear of the high clouds by Monday as the front moves northeast. Rainfall will remain minimal tonight with scattered showers increasing slightly Monday. Another front is due in Monday night with more showers, some possibly heavy Tuesday.
