HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Honolulu firefighters extinguished a brush fire on Sunday that began near a homeless camp in an area between St. Louis Drive and housing for faculty members of the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Dole Street.
Fire department officials say they received the alarm at approximately 12:50 p.m.
Around 25 firefighters responded the fire, which burned around two acres. The fire was reportedly under control by 1:30 p.m. and extinguished by 2:15 p.m.
Honolulu Police closed St. Louis Drive between Robert Place and Bertram Street as crews battled the fire. All roads in the area have since been reopened. Officials say the roads were closed because of the number of fire trucks that were present in the area.
