HFD: Waipahu apartment fire intentionally set

One day after fire ripped through a two story apartment building in Waipahu, Honolulu Fire Investigators tell Hawaii News Now the blaze was intentionally set.

Two men and a woman were inside a first floor unit on Ani Ani Place when the fire started after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. They managed to escape unharmed.

The fire originated in an unoccupied second floor unit and spread to the unit next door, according to an HFD spokesman.  Damage is estimated at $280,000.  

Honolulu Police have opened a criminal case and have no suspects in custody.
