Farrington Hwy reopened after Makaha main break

Farrington Highway has reopened after a 24-inch water main break in Makaha Thursday morning.

The break occurred around 3 a.m. at 84-824 Farrington Highway, which caused Honolulu police to close the highway from Water Street to Jade Street.

Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews completed repairs to the broken water main at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, and Farrington Highway was reopened to normal traffic flow as of 3:45 a.m.

Also, thanks to the conservation efforts of residents along the Leeward Coast, the BWS's water system has recovered to the point where residents from Honokai Hale to Makaha may return to normal water use.

The BWS thanks the community for their conservation efforts and patience as crews executed emergency repairs.
