Catholic Church to buy portion of West Oahu campus

KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii Board of Regents has signed off on a plan to sell a 39 acre parcel near the Kapolei golf course to the Catholic Church for $12 million.

The Honolulu Diocese says it will build a church and eventually a school on the land.

Hawaii News Now in October reported exclusively that financial problems halted construction of the school's new administration building, and UH West Oahu needs the money to make up for budget shortfalls.

Some proceeds from the land sale could get construction going again.
