Temporary closure of H-1, H-3 freeways underway for HPD training

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police will shut down portions of the H-1 and H-3 freeways from the Honolulu International Airport to Windward Oahu on Thursday, November 29 and again on Tuesday, December 4.

The closures are as follows:

Thursday, November 29:  1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday, December 4:  8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Police say the closures are needed for escort training. Portions of Kaneohe Bay Drive will also be closed on the same days.

Hawaii News Now previously reported that residents in Windward Oahu were alerted to heightened security during the holidays in preparation for President Barack Obama and his family's annual Christmas vacation.
