HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
State Civil Defense officials will conduct siren maintenance testing at several locations on Oahu on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

Siren testing will take place at the following locations:

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

•           Diamond Head Light House
•           Kapahulu Library
•           Dole Street
•           Kewalo Basin
•           Makiki District Park

Officials say that residents in the areas specified above may hear the sirens sound for 30-seconds during the identified time periods. Civil Defense officials will use the data gathered from these tests to check whether the sirens are fully operational.

Oahu residents may call State Civil Defense at 733-4300 if they have any questions or concerns regarding this test of the Statewide Outdoor Siren Warning System.  Updates on further testing will be given the afternoon prior to the identified testing day.

Oahu residents may also sign up to adopt a siren at http://sirens.honolulu.gov.
