Work on the PM zipper lane will close three westbound lanes on the H1 Freeway between the Pearl City-Waimalu off-ramp and the Waipahu off from 7 to midnight. A fourth lane will also be blocked from midnight-until 5 AM. The closures will happen nightly through Friday morning. LAVA MEETS THE OCEAN
Lava flowing from Kilauea is entering the ocean on private property just outside the boundary of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER FREAK DAMAGE AT FARRINGTON
Students and staff at Farrington High School are returning from the holiday weekend to a big mess. The auditorium roof collapsed Friday afternoon. Members of New Hope Oahu say it happened during heavy rain. The debris could pose dangers because of potential presence of asbestos and lead paint.
BACK TO WORK FOR CONGRESS
Congress returns to Capitol Hill after a Thanksgiving break, looking to hammer out an agreement to prevent falling off the fiscal cliff. A new CNN/ORG poll finds that two-thirds of Americans think no deal would lead to major problems for the country. 7 in 10 say compromise is needed, but that Congress will most likely act like "spoiled children" not "responsible adults" in the upcoming negotiations.
