HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's that time of year again to gather the family and head to Ala Moana Center, a holiday tradition in Hawai'i for more than 50 years. Get into the festive spirit with family-friendly entertainment, valet parking, extended hours, photos with Santa for keiki and pets, Mele Trees of Light performances, the legendary Candy Cane Train, special rewards and more. The holidays in Hawai'i kick off on Saturday, Nov. 10 at your holiday headquarters, Ala Moana Center. "ThanksGetting Day" (Black Friday) Take part in the biggest shopping day of the year on Nov. 23, at Ala Moana Center's ThanksGetting Day, commonly referred to as Black Friday. From 6 a.m.-9 p.m., shoppers will be rewarded with complimentary valet parking, a "cheat sheet" highlighting door-buster specials, and more. Shoppers who follow @AlaMoanaCenter and #BFHI on Twitter will be eligible for a chance to win one of ten $25 gift cards, as well as other prizes from 4 a.m.-1 p.m. Take advantage of free valet parking at three convenient locations located on Mall Level 2: Makai Side of Macy's and LeSportsac, Makai side near Sears, and by Nordstorm's Bar.
A holiday favorite is back in its new home at the Nordstrom Wing, Level 2. The 30-foot long Candy Cane Train, inspired by the storybook, "The Christmas Gift of Aloha," will take keiki on an exciting sing-along journey this holiday season. Tickets are available for rides starting on Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and daily from Nov. 23-Dec. 24 for $7 at the train depot located on the mall level near the eBar in the Nordstrom Wing.
Create lasting memories with your keiki at Ala Moana Center's Menehune Toy Shop, located at Street Level by Centerstage. Starting Nov. 10-Dec. 24, Santa will be taking a break from holiday preparations to take pictures and listen to everyone's holiday wish list. New this year is the opportunity for pets to get in on the photo fun. Shoppers can bring their furry friends down to Ala Moana Center on Dec. 5, 12 or 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. for pet photo night with Santa. Photo packages start at $22.99. Mele Trees of Light Sing along to your holiday favorites during Ala Moana Center's Mele Trees of Light show at Center Court. This 10- minute light show will run daily beginning Nov. 10-Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. From Dec. 9- 23, enjoy two additional showings at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The arrival of iconic Big Santa along Ala Moana Boulevard signals to locals and visitors that the holidays have officially begun. Bring a piece of Hawaiian holiday tradition home with this season's gift-with-purchase. Shoppers with receipts totaling $500 or more can redeem them at Customer Service Center for a limited-edition Big Santa stocking. Receipts must be dated from Nov. 10-Dec. 24. Must be 13 years old or older to participate. No more than three receipts per store.
Ala Moana Center takes the hassle out of holiday parking with professional valet service. For $6 per car, shoppers can drop off their vehicles at Mall Level 2, near the Nordstrom eBar starting Nov. 24-Dec. 31 with an additional location opening Dec. 14-26 at Mall Level 2 outside of Longs Drugs. Services are available daily during center hours.
Take the stress out of searching for the perfect gift by purchasing an Ala Moana Center gift card! Customers who purchase three or more Ala Moana Center gift cards in one transaction will receive a special gift of their choosing: a RuMe Tote, Nail Polish Quartet or Silver Key Chain. Available in denominations from $30-$500, gift cards can be purchased at the Customer Service Center and the self serve kiosk located on the Street Level near Customer Service.
