HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Unstable conditions over the islands will keep the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the forecast for at least one more day.

Forecasters say localized heavy rain and even a few thunderstorms could develop in the afternoon and early evening hours, especially over Kauai and Oahu.

According to forecasters, most of the thunderstorm activity last night remained around Kauai county, with a few brief storms just north of Oahu.

The front is expected to weaken Saturday, which will allow easterly trade winds to stage a return through the weekend.
