KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Maui publisher who refused to follow police orders at an enforcement operation has posted the video of his resulting arrest.

Thomas Russo who runs the Maui Time weekly newspaper used his cell phone to record officers who were stopping vehicles for tinting and size violations.

The operation caused a big traffic backup in Kahului on Tuesday.

Russo told police he was a member of the media and had the right to record them on public property. However, the officers repeatedly asked him to move away from the scene and eventually arrested him.

Russo is charged with obstructing government operations, harassment and resisting arrest.

He was released after posting $3,000 bail.
