TEACHERS' TALKS PROGRESS REPORT
Today, the Board of Education will get a progress report on the status of contract negotiations with Hawaii's 13 thousand public school teachers. Last week, Campbell High teachers staged a work to the rules protest, where they worked only the hours on their imposed contract, 8 to 3, and did not do tutoring, coaching or other extras to prove a point. The Teachers Union is now looking over a 103 page proposal from the State for a new 2 year deal. The two sides plan to meet next month.
More siren testing will take place today. From 9 am to noon, State Civil Defense will sound two emergency sirens in Waipahu and one in Kaimuki. Two other sirens in East Oahu will also be tested from 1-3 in the afternoon.
