A Napili man has been charged with murder in the second-degree following an altercation with a co-worker, according to the Maui Police Department.

Police say on Monday, November 12, at about 7 p.m. Lahaina Patrol Officers responded to the Napili Plaza after a report of an argument between co-workers of a maintenance firm.

When police arrived on scene, they found 58-year-old Danny Jose of Lahaina unresponsive on the ground.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old William Ranep who they say left the scene in a work truck.

Jose was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition and placed in ICU.

At 8:17 p.m. Lahaina Patrol Officers located the work truck in front of a residence on Hanawai Street in Napili.  Police say Ranep was still in the vehicle and was placed under arrest.

Police say Jose died from his injuries on Tuesday, Ranep was charged with murder on Wednesday.

His bail is set at $100,000. Ranep was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for his initial arraignment.
