Nuuanu home badly damaged by fire

NUUANU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A home just off the Pali Highway in Nuuanu was gutted by fire Thursday morning.

No one was at home at the time.

The fire happened at 2752 Pali Highway at around 6:44 a.m. The fire was brought under control at approximately 7 a.m. and fully extinguished at 7:11 a.m.

Investigators say the interior of the home sustained heavy damage. Firefighters kept the flames away from nearby homes.

A mother and son who live in the home are now homeless. Red Cross have been called for assistance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
