No tsunami after 6.4 quake in Alaska

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A strong earthquake shook an area off the coast of Alaska, but was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was measured at a magnitude 6.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened at 10:42 a.m. HST, about 338 miles southeast of Anchorage, Alaska.
