HONOLULU – The Warriors are still winless in the Mountain
West Conference, and still haven't beaten an FBS team this season.
Boise State cruised to a 49-14 win at Aloha Stadium as the
Warriors fell to 1-8 overall, 0-5 in conference.
There was some excitement in Aloha Stadium early on. After Boise State took their first drive in
for a touchdown, Mike Edwards provided a spark for the Warriors. The junior took the ensuing kickoff 100 yards
for a touchdown, his third kick return TD of the season. That tied the score at 7-7, but only for a
few minutes.
Following three stalled drives, the Warriors were set to
take possession on a punt. However,
Scott Harding fumbled on the return, which the Broncos recovered. Six plays and 14 yards later, it was 14-7
after Joe Southwick hit Matt Miller for the go ahead touchdown.
Southwick threw his second touchdown pass of the quarter on
Boise State's next possession, a 46-yarder to Aaron Burks, to make the score
21-7 after one quarter of play.
Sean Schroeder had another rough afternoon, completing 10 of
19 passes for 100 yards, with a fumble and interception. His fumble in the third quarter was recovered
and returned for a touchdown by Demarcus Lawrence.
Jeremy Higgins was 11/17 for 154 yards with an interception
in relief of Schroeder.
The Warriors will play their final road game of the year
Friday night at Air Force.
