HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Retail gas prices fell again over the past week throughout Hawaii, including by 12 cents a gallon in Hilo, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The Hawaii state average for regular unleaded dropped by seven cents during the week to $4.24 per gallon which also was 11 cents less than last month and eight cents lower than last year.
Honolulu's average price dropped to $4.17 a gallon for regular unleaded – six cents less than last week, 17 cents less than last month and 14 cents higher than a year ago.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.24 a gallon, down 12 cents from last week, 14 cents less than last month and eight cents more than this time last year.
Wailuku's average is $4.39 a gallon, eight cents less than last week, 13 cents less than last month and four cents lower than last year.
"More price declines have appeared at the retail pump this week," said AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Diane Peterson. "Only two states in the country still have $4 a gallon-plus prices: Hawaii and Alaska. The Alaska state average is $4.09 a gallon. California prices have dropped below $4 a gallon and the Golden State's average dipped to $3.91."
