No tsunami after 7.4 quake off Guatemala

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake shook an area off the coast of Guatemala, but was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was measured at a magnitude 7.5, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened at 6:36 a.m. HST, about 101 miles southwest of  Guatemala City.
