Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki reopened after power pole hit

KAIMUKI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki was closed in both directions early Wednesday morning.

Honolulu police closed the road between 8th and 9th Avenue while crews worked to repair low hanging wires from a snapped power pole.

Officers on scene said that a woman in her twenties was driving eastbound on the road when she veered off and hit the pole.

The woman did not suffer any injuries. Police arrested her on scene.

Waialae Avenue is now open in both directions, but eastbound lanes between 8th and 9th Avenue are being contra-flowed.
